9

Nine is a composite number, its proper divisors being 1 and 3.  It is 3 times 3 and hence the third square number.  It is the first composite lucky number.  Nine is the highest single-digit number in the decimal system...

What does 9 mean for this cute girl?

She's definitely lucky;

3xs the excitement (thanks to 1 sister)

3 rows of 3 donuts;

1 girl surrounded by 3 lucky siblings.
We love her the highest amount possible!

sweet 16

16 years ago today, we got married.
Steve's Grandpa Lorenzo married us in the Oakland Temple.
This is our first anniversary without Grandpa Lorenzo.
We love him and miss him.
Here are some notes my sister gave me after the wedding--words of wisdom from Grandpa:
Prayer brought you together.
Needs of family outweigh the needs of self.
Synergy: Combine two good things to make something better.
2 areas of responsibility differ-
man--caring for the needs of family
woman--early nurturing of children
Everything else equal responsibility.
I am not sure how we were both so smart to make such a good, solid decision about getting married.  I am just really glad we did.  We must be descendents of some very wise people.

We laughed so much tonight looking through the scrapbook of our
first couple years together.
The belts, the clothes, the vests, the hair!!!
Girbaud jeans anyone?  Overalls?  Long sweaters and turtlenecks?
How did we celebrate tonight?  Steve took all the kids to Jake's soccer practice so I could do a class at the gym, and I am doing this blog post while he's at a soccer game.  Although that might sound a little funny for an anniversary night, I think it shows that we get each other.
And that is something to celebrate.

LPS Party!

The Littlest Pet Shop Adoption Agency was the place for Emmy's birthday party.

So many cute friends who lovingly adopted and took home a Littlest Pet:

But not before they got their new homes ready, complete with a warm blankie and a food dish,
and not before taking them to the movies to see their fellow LPS on the big screen,

and of course, not before the big celebration and opening of the presents.
We were happy to see all of the Littlest Pets go to such good, loving homes!

happy weekend

Friday, this came home.
I'm so happy we get these calendars once again!

Saturday we had the Primary talent show.
It was a blast!
Ali and Makenzie did a modesty fashion show and Emmy told her original jokes.

The kids made this on Sunday.
Emmy wore some protective gear, including 4 pairs of underwear just for a little extra cushion.

It was swingin!

Emmy's original jokes:
What did the iPad say to the iPhone?  I! (with a wave of her hand)
What do mouses eat for their birthdays?  Cheesecake
What do horses eat for dessert?  Caramel apples
Where do kitties swim?  In a kiddy pool
What do pilots eat for breakfast?  Plane bagels

pinky finger

Jake broke his pinky finger.
It was after the Court of Honor, the first day of school.  The Scouts went to the gym to play around, someone threw a ball at Jake, and Jake tried to deflect it.  And broke his pinky.  It was a pretty good break--they thought he might need surgery.  Luckily he does not.
Take 1:  Getting a cast
Take 2:  Getting a cast again, only this time Uncle Dan pulled some strings and got us into see Dr. Hanel, the best pediatric orthopaedist around.
Jake has been adjusting to doing everything with his left hand, including writing!  Although, I get to be his scribe for homework.  Good thing I did pretty well in 7th grade. ;)

stretching summer

Even though school has started, we are squeezing in some summer-ish things to enjoy those warm rays of sunshine:

 Sunday afternoon at Ballard Locks

Grandma, Grandpa and Aunt Jenny came with us.

Gorgeous day, beautiful boats.

Family Night at the Mariners game
Hoopes, Roberts, Kimballs, & Maurers.

The kids made it on the BIG SCREEN!!!
The M's lost, but we had a blast!
