A for is for Ali

Ali really excelled this year in 3rd grade, especially as the year went on!  We are SO proud of her.  She recently made a paper quilt for the Pioneer unit.  Ali had it finished the weekend it was assigned!   When she took it to class, Mrs. Haroutoonian showed it to the class as an example of what a 4 looks like!!
She won the Class Spelling Bee AND graduated at the top of her Apple Valley School class (pioneer school simulation) with the most points!
At a recent Activity Days, I got to share some Amazing things about Ali!
A is for Awesome.  A is for Ali!

emmy's art

Emmy loves to sit and draw at the table.  She does this almost every day and just draws and draws and draws.  I love it!

(sorry, Emmy, if I got the story out of order)

good-bye

For the last year, we've had COUSINS in town!!!  It has been a blast.  Today, Aunt Bri, Caleb and Codi left to Utah where they will be settling down.  We get to keep Uncle Dan here until he finishes his Orthopaedic Fellowship at Harborview at the end of July, but we will really miss our cousins!!!

We love you, Hoopes family!!  Thanks for the many, many fun times!!!

The venue.

Our favorite performer before the big show.

The performance.

The people who were a part of it all!

40!!!

by Emmy
To celebrate 40, I wanted to do something big.  Something for me.  Something that I love.  So I decided to run a half marathon on the morning of my birthday.
Now, I don't necessarily love half marathons.  But I do love the challenge and the sense of accomplishment with running one.  And it was a beautiful day!  Sunny and perfect.  I started at Marymoor Park in Redmond and ran 13.1 miles to South Cove in Issaquah.
Steve and Drew started with me at Marymoor and rode with me until I left the Park.  Then they met me at mile 10 on the trail and refilled my water.  It was perfect!  The last 3 miles they drove in the truck and stopped and cheered here and there.  Having them there was the best!
3 more miles to go!!
The only thing that was missing were the photos from my life posted at every mile, but I guess Steve just ran out of time with that one.
It was easily my favorite half marathon I've done.  My music was awesome (thanks Jake), the day was gorgeous, the trail was beautiful, I was healthy, and happy to be running--truly a celebration.  It was the BEST way to start out #40!

field day

I just really love kindergarten.  It's a little crazy with two pick-up times on either side of a short few hours, but then again--that's why I love it.  It's like the best of both worlds: school for a bit, and still at home for a lot.
Regardless of my feelings toward kindergarten, it is ending very shortly.  To celebrate, Endeavour held a field day not just for the kindergarteners, but for the entire school!!  I got to go with Emmy since she is an afternoon-er and doesn't usually go to school on Wednesdays.
She has made the cutest (and shortest) little friends this year.
It will be fun to have them all at Grand Ridge next year!

Hopefully it was a good first year for their teacher, Ms. Finch!

 Good-bye, Kindergarten!  It's been a ball!
